Shirley Ellis - The Name Game

"The Name Game" is a pop song written and sang by Shirley Ellis as a rhyming game that creates variations on a person's name.
The single was released back in 1964, and became wildly popular in later years by the television series "American Horror Story."

The Name Game Rules

You can sing 'The Name Game' with (almost) every name.
Sometimes it sounds better if you use a shorter nickname. (e.g. Jon for Jonathan)

The regular verse

Unless your name begins with a vowel (A, E, I, O, U), 'B', 'F' or 'M' you don't have to care about special rules.
The verse for the name 'Jon' would be like this:

Jon, Jon, bo-bon
Banana-fana fo-fon
Fee-fi-mo-mon
Jon!

At the end of every line, the name gets repeated without the first letter: Jon becomes bon
If we take (X) as the full name (Jon) and (Y) as the name without the first letter (on) the verse would look like this:

(X), (X), bo-b(Y)
Banana-fana fo-f(Y)
Fee-fi-mo-m(Y)
(X)!

Vowel as first letter of the name

If you have a vowel as the first letter of your name (e.g. Adam) you do not truncate the name.
The verse looks like this:

Adam, Adam, bo-badam
Banana-fana fo-fadam
Fee-fi-mo-madam
Adam!

'B', 'F' or 'M' as first letter of the name

In case of a 'B', an 'F' or an 'M' (e.g. Becky, Frank, Mary) there is a special rule.
The line which would 'rebuild' the name (e.g. bo-becky) is sang without the first letter of the name.
The verse for the name Becky looks like this:

Becky, Becky, bo-ecky
Banana-fana fo-fecky
Fee-fi-mo-mecky
Becky!

For the name 'Frank', this would be correct:

Frank, Frank, bo-brank
Banana-fana fo-rank
Fee-fi-mo-mrank
Frank!
